At the Millcroft Inn and Spa, we love springtime in Caledon. As a region that celebrates the great outdoors and the beautiful sights, sounds, and smells of local greenspaces, we think that Spring is the ideal time to visit the region. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best things to do and see in our county during the spring season. We hope this blog will make you think of the beautiful blooms that are awaiting Canadians in the coming months, so you can feel the sunshine spread across your cheeks.
Celebrate Maple Season
Come taste the sweetness of maple syrup at the Millcroft Inn & Spa and around the region

There is truly nothing sweeter than freshly tapped, handcrafted maple syrup. Caledon is revered for its extraordinary landscapes, and our mature trees are part of our region’s appeal. Whether you want to try the maple syrup we’ve produced right here at the Millcroft Inn & Spa and see how we’ve seamlessly incorporated this oh-so-Canadian ingredient into our seasonal menu. Or, if you want to visit any of the local sugar bushes, you will find Caledon’s very best maple syrup makes for the perfect addition to your morning pancakes – or evening chicken wing sauce.
Enjoy Local Food and Produce
Learn how Caledon brings a whole new meaning to farm-to-table cuisine
Each year, the Caledon region’s agricultural experts produce an incredible array of produce that our foodie enthusiasts transform into delicious baked goods, meals, desserts and – of course – fresh fruits and veggies to cook your own meals with.
Whether you’re most interested in exploring local farmers’ markets or want to sip and savour cider at our local cideries, Caledon is home to many spots where you can taste the fruits of the farming labour taking place in our region.
After exploring Caledonian orchards and wineries, you can return to the Millcroft Inn to indulge in a carefully prepared dinner that reflects all the flavours you’ve become accustomed to – and learned about – during the day.
Celebrate the Great Outdoors in Caledon
Put on your hiking boots and explore Caledon by foot via one of our fan favourite trails

Once spring has sprung, Caledon offers a number of wonderful options for the nature-lover in your travel group. Choose from the Belfountain Conservation Area, the Cheltenham Badlands or the Bruce Trail to find your perfect footing in Caledon.
The Belfountain Conversation Area
The Belfountain Conservation Area spans a stunning gorge using a suspension bridge that takes approximately 30 minutes to walk across. Along this rugged hike, you’ll encounter many waterways and a wide variety of robust foliage.
The Bruce Trail in Caledon
The Bruce Trail boasts 900 km of main trails and 400 km of side trails. From Niagara to Tobermory, you can weave along the Niagara Escarpment while taking in the Green Belt’s best features. This trail will allow for you to go at your own pace and also creates endless opportunities for photographs and solitude from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The Cheltenham Badlands
The Cheltenham Badlands offers a completely unique hiking experience in Ontario. The hills are bare, exposing an eye-catching red shale. While this rare natural occurrence doesn’t support the robust array of vegetation like the other two sites, its burnt red appearance is certainly not something you see every day, and it’s a must-see for the geologist in your group!
Get Golfing in Caledon
Tee up for the terrific golf courses that make Caledon a great destination for Ontario’s golfers
Within a very close distance to the Millcroft Inn and Spa, you will find a number of high-quality golf courses where you can warm up on the putting green or play as many holes as your heart desires on the 9- and 18-hole courses. Ranging from easygoing fairways through to challenging roughs and well-sculpted greens, Caledon attracts golfers of every ability who want to enjoy the Niagara escarpment, while working on their game.
