Inn On The Twenty’s Participates in Niagara’s Host a Hive Program

Inn On The Twenty Bee Hive

At Inn On The Twenty, we are proud to support the Niagara Bee Group’s Host a Hive program. From vineyards to orchards, much of Niagara’s beauty and bounty relies on pollinators. In recent years, honeybee populations have faced significant challenges due to pesticide exposure, climate change, and habitat loss. Protecting these vital pollinators is essential for sustaining the region’s environment and the flavours that make Niagara so special. This Host a Hive initiative helps strengthen pollinator health and preserve Niagara’s natural abundance.

What Is the Host a Hive Program?

The Host a Hive initiative is a grassroots effort to protect honeybees by creating a Bee Network across Niagara. Instead of concentrating hives in one location, the program disperses them across private properties. This reduces the risk of colony loss and gives bees safe, pesticide-free environments to forage.

Each hive is carefully installed and maintained by the Niagara Bee Group. Hosts do not need beekeeping experience. Technicians handle everything from hive health to honey collection. At the end of the season, participants enjoy a share of the harvested honey, while the rest is donated to local families in need.

This approach helps sustain bee populations and ensures a healthier, more resilient ecosystem for everyone in Niagara.

Inn On The Twenty’s Eco-Friendly Role

Nestled in Jordan Village, surrounded by vineyards, gardens, and the rolling landscapes of the Niagara Benchlands, Inn On The Twenty is an ideal host for thriving bee colonies. By participating in Host a Hive, we are:

  • Providing a haven for pollinators
  • Supporting local biodiversity and agriculture
  • Offering guests a chance to experience sustainability up close

During your stay, you may even enjoy the local honey produced by this program at Inn On The Twenty Restaurant . It is a sweet reminder of how small actions can have a big impact.

Why Protecting Pollinators Matters

Bees play a vital role in pollinating over one-third of the world’s food crops, including the grapes and fresh produce that make the Niagara region so renowned. Without them, vineyards, gardens, and farms would struggle to flourish.

By supporting initiatives like Host a Hive, Inn On The Twenty helps ensure that Niagara’s natural environment and the flavours it produces can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Stay Sustainably in the Niagara Benchlands
