Spring has sprung, and so has your décor! This Tulip Basket Wreath, courtesy of Clippings Floral Design, brings a playful twist to traditional wreaths—because nothing says ‘hello sunshine’ like tulips in bloom.

What You Will Need
🌷1 Small woven basket (flat-back or regular, depending on how you’re hanging it)
🌷2 – 3 Bunches of tulips (fresh or high-quality faux)
🌷Mix of pinks, peaches, whites, or pastels
🌷Greenery stems (eucalyptus, ruscus, or fern)
🌷Floral foam (if using fresh tulips) OR crumpled paper (for faux)
🌷Wide satin or grosgrain ribbon (pastel or plaid for spring)
🌷Floral wire or zip tie
🌷Optional: baby’s breath or waxflower, small butterfly pick, moss for a more garden-y look
🌷Scissors or snips
How to Assemble
Prep the basket
- Place floral foam inside the basket if using fresh tulips.
- For faux tulips, stuff the bottom with paper so stems don’t slide down.
- Make sure the basket hangs flat against the door.
Create your greenery base
- Start by inserting greenery toward the back and edges of the basket.
- Let pieces spill out naturally—this sets the shape and fullness.
Prep your tulips
- Trim stems to similar lengths.
- If using fresh, remove extra leaves.
- Group colours together or cluster 2 – 3 tones for a soft gradient.
Build the tulip bundle
- Start placing tulips in small bunches, aiming for a gentle “fan” shape.
- Alternate directions slightly so it looks lush and effortless.
- Add filler flowers (baby’s breath/waxflower) last to soften.
Tie on the ribbon
- Wrap your ribbon around the basket handle or top edge.
- Tie a loose bow—nothing too perfect (spring looks better undone).
- Let the tails hang long for that romantic front-door moment.
Secure everything
- Use floral wire inside the basket to keep stems from shifting.
- If hanging outdoors, add an extra wire loop on the back.
Style + finish
- Hang on your door hook, adjust any tulip heads facing down, and fluff the ribbon.
- Optional: Tuck a little moss around the stems for a garden-fresh vibe.
