Canada Day 2019 in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Join proud Canadians from across Southwestern Ontario, at Fort George for an epic celebration of our amazing country. This will be a day of fun festivities that begins with a delicious pancake breakfast in Simcoe Park. From there, you can join the 41st Regiment Fife and Drum Corps as they carry a massive cake down Queen Street towards the party.

Admission to Fort George is free on this very special occasion. Plus, you’ll get to take in some really neat historical demonstrations as the Friends of Fort George salute the holiday with muskets, music and artillery. Don’t forget the great BBQ feast, additional live entertainment and fireworks that will take you well into the Niagara evening.

Polish Sunday Annual Pilgrimage

Commemorate the 26 lives that were lost during World War I by taking part in this special pilgrimage, which begins at the Polish Military Cemetery and proceeds to the Cenotaph of Queen Street. This annual event pays homage to the Polish Blue Army volunteers who passed away before they were able to be deployed to France, due to an influenza outbreak.

The event includes the laying of commemorative wreaths, mass at Chapel and a luncheon at Polonia Park. Those interested in history and those who recognize the importance of preserving our rich history will not want to miss this emotional and educational event.

But, instead of being stuck over the grill, why not leave the cooking up to the more than 20 wineries, from across Niagara-on-the-Lake, who will each be offering up unique food and VQA wine pairings during Sip & Sizzle Niagara?

War of 1812 Officers’ Dinner at Fort George

The Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada will host a very special dinner inside of Fort George to honour those who fought in the War of 1812. The evening will include an upscale catered dinner, live music and some interactive comedy, inspired by the early 19th century.

History buffs won’t want to miss this exciting demonstration of Niagara’s passion for history and the heroes who protected ours.

War of 1812 Officers Day at Fort George

If you want an authentic historical experience, join the Friends of Fort George for this special celebration of the officers who fought, on behalf of our country, during the War of 1812. Volunteer historians will dawn uniforms that accurately and beautifully replicate their traditional regalia, while engaging with vibrant demonstrations throughout the day.
