Ghost Tours in Niagara-on-the-Lake

With Niagara’s rich history also comes many colourful narratives about some of the region’s inhabitants who are no longer among the land of the living. There are a variety of entertaining options for history buffs and horror lovers alike to discover the spookier side of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Ghost Tours of Fort George

Fort George is likely the region’s most-visited and celebrated heritage site thanks to the incredible passion of the volunteers who work so hard to keep its spirit alive.

The ghost tour offered at this famous war monument is really special because it’s not about cheap thrills and scare tactics. Rather, our region’s historians fascinate guests during an approximately 2-hour tour where they tell you all about people’s authentic experiences with the undead.

Dates:

  • July – August: Sundays, Tuesdays & Thursdays – 8:30 p.m.
  • September: Sundays – 7:30 p.m.

Halloween 2019 Tour Dates:

During October, there are special Halloween tours you can partake in. Halloween tours start at 7:00pm, 7:15, 7:30, 10:00pm, 10:15pm, and 10:30pm.

  • October 18 – 20, 2019
  • October 30 & 31, 2019

Tickets: $20/adult and $10/child under 13

Niagara-on-the-Lake Ghost Walk

Visit a few of the region’s most famous haunting spots during this nighttime walking tour. From the local courthouse to a deadly historical house that has an affinity for playing tricks on people and cameras, this spooky tour is a fun one for people of all ages.

Tickets: $16/adults – $7/kids (13 & under) – $13/seniors (60 & over)
Dates: September to Halloween (October 31st), 2019, starting at 8 p.m.

Theatrical Cemetery Tours in Niagara-on-the-Lake

This ghastly walking tour concentrates on the goblins and ghouls surrounding St. Andrew’s Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Museum historians and actors will tell and show you all about the “saints and sinners” whose otherworldly footsteps may now haunt the church grounds you’re visiting.

Dates: September 20, 21, 27 and 28, 2019 – shows starting at 6, 7 and 8 p.m.
Admission: $12 and tickets much be purchased in advance

Moonlight Picnic in Niagara-on-the-Lake

The moon and music will be the highlights of this really unique picnic-style event where you and your loved ones bring the dinner and set-up, and then sit back and enjoy live entertainment. The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre, which is located along the banks of the Niagara River, will play host to this evening affair and the band “Back in the Daze” who will set the tone for a night full of dancing under the stars.

Date: Friday, September 6, 2019 – from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Cost: $120 per table with 6 chairs – beer and wine sold by the bottle.

Spend your afternoon with your head tilted toward the sky as you become absolutely wowed by the aerobatics of the Snowbirds. Taking place at the Niagara District Airport, this family-friendly event is a wonderful way to celebrate the courage and expertise of our country’s air force and the freedom it earned our spectacular country.

September is the time to celebrate Niagara’s grapes and wines at a variety of different indoor and outdoor events. From visiting countless wineries with the Discovery Pass through to the vibrant events in Montebello Park and parades through Niagara’s heritage area, this is absolutely one of Canada’s best wine festivals.

Battle of Queenston Heights 2019 at Fort George

Commemorate the Battle of Queenston Heights with the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada. This will be the 207th anniversary of the battle at Queenston Heights and death of one of our country’s most-celebrated war heroes, Sir Isaac Brock.

Watch historical re-enactments, take in the view of Queenston Heights and the Niagara River and enjoy refreshments while basking in the interesting history and gorgeous landscape of our amazing country.

Date: October 13, 2019 – from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is free.

Beefsteak Dinner at Fort George

This special fundraiser dinner will be styled to emulate a tradition, which was started in the 1700s, referred to as the Sublime Beefsteak Society of England. This society was a symbol of liberal thinking, patriotism and prosperity, and our region’s amazing history buffs are going to reignite that symbolism for an evening of enjoyment.

Indulge in a traditional steak dinner, while also taking advantage of the event’s live music, auction and entertainment.
